Cloud security firm Zscaler Inc. recently announced the launch of new artificial intelligence enhancements to the Zscaler AI Data Protection Platform. These innovations include natively integrated data security posture management and real-time email data loss protection, designed to streamline data security and minimize complexity across various environments.

The new features aim to help users protect intellectual property and customer data from malicious insiders, accidental data loss, and cybercriminals. Additionally, they address the growing threats posed by shadow AI, ransomware, and increased cloud usage. With AI and machine learning transactions rapidly increasing despite security risks, enterprises require new tools to navigate the swiftly evolving security landscape effectively.

Zscaler’s platform currently analyzes and leverages insights from over 500 trillion data points daily, spanning users, devices, networks, and applications. The latest enhancements to Zscaler’s AI Data Protection Platform leverage AI and automation to provide automation visibility into sensitive data, offering insightful context and closed-loop workflow automation.

The new features in the Zscaler AI Data Protection Platform include natively integrated Data Security Posture Management (DPSM), which discovers, classifies, and protects sensitive data in public clouds like Amazon Web Services Inc. and Microsoft Corp.’s Azure. Another feature, GenAI App Security, offers context-rich insights into risky prompts, AI application users, and granular policy controls.

Another feature, Email DLP, secures sensitive data across corporate email platforms such as Microsoft 365 and Gmail, addressing one of the most challenging insider threat vectors.
Additionally launched was Unified SaaS Security, a service that integrates various standalone technologies, including SaaS Security Posture Management, SaaS Supply Chain Security, Out-of-Band API CASB Security, and deep user activity analysis. This integration delivers an accurate correlation engine for proactive risk management and mitigation.

Completing the announcements is AI Auto Data Discovery, a feature designed to cover all data-at-rest locations, spanning endpoints, software-as-a-service (SaaS), and public cloud infrastructure. This feature enhances efficiency and simplifies legacy data protection programs by reducing complexity.

Zscaler’s Vice President and General Manager of data protection, Moinul Khan, stated, “Great data protection starts with complete visibility. Point products create complexity and security gaps and do not provide a full 360-degree view of your enterprise data. With today’s launch… we are continuing our commitment to help customers see all their data and scale security protection to prevent leaks. By enabling data security across structured and unstructured data and all channels with our comprehensive data protection platform, organizations can replace multiple legacy point products to reduce cost and complexity.”
