The UK-based cybersecurity startup ThreatSpike Ltd. raised USDÂ 14 million in Series A funding round, led by Expedition Growth Capital. This is the first time it has raised outside capital ever since its inception 14 years back.
According to the company, it has developed a “next-generation managed security service” that delivers both cutting-edge technology and expert knowledge to help organizations identify and address cyberthreats across expansive and intricate information technology infrastructures.
What sets ThreatSpike apart is its approach to cybersecurity—not merely acting as a service provider, but positioning itself as a true partner that works closely with each client to safeguard them from potential threats. While many organizations rely on a patchwork of tools identified by three-letter acronyms such as EDR, XDR, and DLP to solve their security challenges, ThreatSpike emphasizes a more hands-on, collaborative model driven by seasoned cybersecurity professionals.
The company delivers fully managed detection and response services, combined with continuous penetration testing, to help clients secure their most vital IT assets against the full spectrum of risks—from hackers and phishing attempts to accidental data leaks.
ThreatSpike offers two primary services. The first, ThreatSpike Red, delivers unlimited penetration testing for a fixed fee, enabling clients to assess their security posture whenever and as frequently as they choose. This service encompasses a wide range of testing capabilities, including red-team exercises—where expert teams actively probe for vulnerabilities—as well as realistic attack simulations to mirror genuine threat scenarios.
The second service, ThreatSpike Blue, is a managed detection and response solution. It provides continuous, cross-domain threat hunting with comprehensive visibility across all endpoints, networks, cloud infrastructure, and applications within a client’s IT environment. This is further enhanced by AI-driven automation designed to eliminate false positives and streamline threat detection.
The distinctive, personalized approach that ThreatSpike brings to its services has made a significant impression on clients like Inchcape Shipping Services Group Holdings Ltd., a global leader in ports and marine management, which has been relying on ThreatSpike’s solutions since 2016. “From the beginning, ThreatSpike has instilled a strong sense of trust and confidence within our team, enabling us to focus on our core business operations while knowing that our security posture is in expert hands,” said Lee Scott, Inchcape’s Head of cybersecurity.
ThreatSpike was established in 2011 by the husband-and-wife team of computer scientists, Adam and Kate Blake. Until now, the company has been entirely bootstrapped, operating without any institutional funding. Its expansion has been fueled purely by word-of-mouth and growing customer demand. Today, ThreatSpike serves over 200 clients across 90 countries.
“In a market full of three-letter acronym products and aggressive upselling, we take a different approach which puts customer security at the core,” ThreatSpike Chief Executive Adam Blake said.
According to the company, its security monitoring software is platform-agnostic and can be seamlessly deployed across any IT infrastructure or hardware—whether servers or personal computers—without any need for configuration. This allows customers to gain immediate insight into both user and machine activity.
Will Sheldon, Partner at Expedition Growth Capital, stated that ThreatSpike demonstrates the highest level of referral-driven growth and customer satisfaction he has encountered in the cybersecurity industry. “It has been growing rapidly and profitably without investment as it fuses software and services into a unique platform that delivers tangible cybersecurity outcomes for sophisticated customers globally,” he said.
Looking ahead, ThreatSpike plans to use the capital raised in funding round to fuel its continued global expansion. This includes scaling its engineering, security operations, and go-to-market teams, as well as fast-tracking the development of its product roadmap.
