Recently, cybersecurity solutions and services provider SpecterOps Inc. announced securing USD 75 million in new funding to expand BloodHound Enterprise, a platform designed to eliminate identity-based attack paths comprehensively.
Established in 2017, SpecterOps holds expertise in adversary-oriented cybersecurity solutions, utilizing deep expertise in advanced threat actor tactics to help businesses combat sophisticated attacks.
SpecterOps provides a range of services, including security evaluation, program development, and adversary tactics training. These offerings are designed to strengthen clients’ security postures by simulating advanced attack scenarios and developing effective defense strategies.
In addition to assessments, SpecterOps helps organizations build comprehensive security programs, emphasizing the integration of technical components to enhance detection, prevention, and response capabilities against cyber hazards.
SpecterOps is also recognized for its adversary tactics training courses, which facilitate security professionals with the expertise to predict and combat advanced attack tactics. These programs focus on key areas like red team operations and identity-based offensive tradecraft.
SpecterOps has developed popular open-source tools, including BloodHound Community Edition, which maps and visualizes Active Directory attack paths. Expanding on this foundation, they provide BloodHound Enterprise, a solution designed to continuously detect and mitigate attack paths within existing infrastructures.
Since its inception in 2021, BloodHound Enterprise assists businesses in augmenting the security of their Azure Active Directory/Entra ID and Microsoft Active Directory platforms by tacking identity-based attack pathways. Since its debut, BHE has seen rapid adoption, with customer growth doubling year-over-year in 2024, reaching nearly 200 clients.
“Identity-based threats are growing often due to the growing complexity of enterprise identity architectures and enterprises need a proactive, dynamic approach to stay ahead. Our Attack Path Management methodology helps organizations manage identity risk by treating the identity ecosystem as a living, interconnected graph, continuously detecting and addressing attack paths,” said David McGuire, Chief Executive.
Insight Partners LP spearheaded the Series B funding round, joined by M12, Ansa Capital, Decibel LP, Ballistic Ventures LP, and Cisco Investments Inc. Previously, SpecterOps secured USD 25 million in a Series A round in April 2023.
