Lookout Inc., a prominent cybersecurity company, recently revealed a set of enhancements to its cloud security platform. These improvements have been developed to aid organizations in enhancing their capabilities for discovering, evaluating, and safeguarding their data as it traverses various networks.

The Lookout Cloud Security Platform, which serves as the company’s security service edge solution, is responsible for continually assessing the risk profile of users and devices. It utilizes this information to deliver highly detailed, zero-trust access, aligning access privileges with the sensitivity levels of specific applications and data resources. This platform empowers organizations to safeguard their employees, devices, applications, and data by preventing unauthorized access and defending against internet-based threats.

The latest enhancements are designed to bolster data security as it traverses networks, clouds, applications, and devices.

First up are enhancements to Secure Private Access, Lookout’s zero-trust network access solution, which discovers and onboards private applications running on an organization’s network hosted on-premises or in the cloud and currently accessed via a virtual private network. Information technology teams can now view all private applications accessed by their users and define and enforce access and data protection policies for these apps using the added functionality.

The Lookout Cloud Security Platform, which provides an integrated cloud firewall that inspects incoming and outgoing traffic across all ports and protocols, has been augmented with finer-grained security and access policies. This addition enables customers to implement heightened security and access controls for all their applications, including web, User Datagram Protocol, Transmission Control Protocol, Internet Control Message Protocol, and internet and intranet traffic.

Lookout has broadened its data classification and protection features for Google Drive, including extended support for data classification capabilities across the Lookout Cloud Security Platform by integrating with Google Drive labels. This integration allows Lookout customers to use Google Drive labels for classifying sensitive data and to enforce security policies based on these labels, thus enhancing the protection of sensitive data stored in Google Drive’s application programming interface mode.

Additional enhancements encompass the capability to secure traffic and apply policies to guest networks and Internet of Things (IoT) devices, providing organizations with enhanced visibility and control over all endpoints and users within their network. This helps mitigate the risks associated with malware infections and data exfiltration. Lookout has improved its traffic inspection abilities, expanding data and threat protection to guest users of enterprise networks and IoT traffic.

Finally, advanced threat protection against phishing and unpatched threats has been bolstered through remote browser isolation and cloud sandboxing integration. This improvement enhances the user experience while effectively preventing users from accessing malicious websites and content, strengthening defenses against cyber threats.
