Arctic Wolf Networks Inc. recently revealed its acquisition of Revelstoke Security Inc., a cybersecurity startup supported by a substantial USD 38 million in funding. The specific terms of the deal have not been made public.

Arctic Wolf is a significant provider of managed cybersecurity services and has secured over USD 600 million in equity and debt financing from various investors. Operating from Eden Prairie, Minnesota, this company provides organizations with infrastructure monitoring services to detect malicious activities and vulnerabilities. Arctic Wolf is proficient in remediating security breaches as well.

The company’s managed cybersecurity service operates through a proprietary software platform developed in-house. According to Arctic Wolf, the platform processes and analyzes over 4.5 trillion cybersecurity-related data points weekly. The data is gathered from the infrastructure of over 4,600 organizations that constitute Arctic Wolf’s customer base.

Revelstoke, the company recently acquired by Arctic Wolf, offers a SOAR (Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response) platform with the same name. SOAR platforms offer functionalities empowering cybersecurity teams to detect hacking attempts and respond effectively. They facilitate automating repetitive manual tasks, such as malware removal from employee devices.

SOAR systems analyze information gathered by other cybersecurity technologies to find breaches. For instance, the software from Revelstoke may extract phishing attempt data from its email security tool and network activity logs from a company’s firewall. The software also can aggregate data from numerous other cybersecurity products thanks to a range of prebuilt integrations.

According to Arctic Wolf, the internally developed platform powering their managed cybersecurity service is purposefully designed for seamless integration with other breach detection products. Specifically, the platform gathers breach data from Arctic Wolf customers’ existing cybersecurity software. The company then utilizes this data to identify and mitigate malicious activities within customer networks.

Arctic Wolf plans to leverage the integrations developed by Revelstoke for widely used cybersecurity tools to expand and enhance its platform’s range of features. According to the company, Revelstoke’s technology will empower them to automate cybersecurity tasks that require manual intervention. Moreover, Arctic Wolf anticipates that the software will enhance its ability to detect and remediate breaches swiftly.

“With Revelstoke, we hope that customers will soon be able to unlock hundreds of additional detection and response actions to further drive down cyber risk for organizations of almost any size,” Dan Schiappa, Chief Product Officer at Arctic Wolf, wrote in his blog.

Earlier in 2022, Arctic Wolf had also acquired cybersecurity startup Tetra Defense. Tetra Defense had pioneered a platform enabling organizations to restore a system infected with malware to a previously secure state. The software also simplifies associated tasks, such as identifying company infrastructure vulnerabilities.
