The application of cloud is dominating the storage and development space. Many of the enterprises are putting more and more data into the cloud platform. Though most enterprises don’t realize that putting data on the cloud is just more than putting your data on personal hard drive, making the IT teams work overnight to protect the data. A large amount of data is transferred daily on the cloud platform, even with current offerings of cloud providers a user can even use real-time functions to transfer the data. IT analyst around the world have added that with mobility and cloud we have brought several cyber risks on broad so the IT security is now more and more dynamic than ever before. A study was conducted by the data protection provider Virtu that has taken steps towards the data-centric approach towards the privacy of data and protection of data. The study had pooled in the data conducted by Forrester research and more than 200 directors, VP and C-level executives that held positions in IT, risk management and security. The study gave in conflicting ideas about the current organization’s data security plan and the data protection doesn’t seem to be high on the list.
As the study went in further we were enlighted by the idea that almost half- 46 percent of those polled said that they were adopting the data-centric approach towards the data protection. Most of the business is looking to abandon the traditional methods of data protection that devised for a specific scenario towards data protection. The current investment in the hardware systems are reducing and more focus is towards the cloud technology. Almost the same number added that they aware of the cybercriminal threats that lounge with the usage of cloud technology. Many of the organizations are implementing IT regulations that can improve the security against data theft and vulnerable security infrastructure. The organization found that it was critical before we start adopting the cloud as a storage option the need to execute data-centric protection. During the study, 85 percent of the respondent’s agreed that a need for enforcing access control was critical to maintaining data integrity. Encrypting the data on the stored on the cloud, while encryption of data after it’s transferred from its source to destination or vice versa is one of the reasons almost 79 percent of the respondents think that will protect the data.
One of the key things that enterprises need to answer before adopting any of the data protection plans is the prioritization of work. Almost 45 percent of the respondents in the study said that delivery is more important for them, while 41 percent agreed that threat the better comply with privacy regulations. Almost 37 percent of them agreed to move their resources towards improved customer experience and increasing business role is defining the IT investments for almost 35 percent of them. Their seem will be a tug between two parties one that considers data security imperative part for the organization while others that considers it as just a passing trend. During the study, we also found that close to 39 percent of the respondents feared that it would hinder the growth of the organization. While 34 percent of them agreed that they lack the staff to solve the data privacy issues. While 30 percent said that they are confused with the differences in data privacy and security.
Many of the enterprises are finding the data-centric approach to be more powerful and effective to cope with modern security challenges. Almost 49 percent of those agreed that the move will improve the organization’s ability to meet regulatory requirements, while 47 percent saw a reduction the data theft and for almost 47 percent reduced the risk of data loss with the increased ability of data-centric approach. The study was aimed at finding a common ground that could improve the IT organizations ability to deliver their initiatives more quickly and with a greater focus towards the regulations. However, we could see a conflict arising between both as one could affect the other productivity. To address such challenges, enterprises are turning towards the data-centric protection solutions that over some the challenges with cost, usage, and integration that will improve the onboarding of the technologies.
Data security is not just a simple approach to securing certain critical data from all threats. Today adoption is more distributed and threats are more intelligent than a single handle of a tech expert, so enterprises need to be front and center to prevent their data from falling into wrong hands. It will assist in establishing data security and privacy with all the customers. Failing to secure data on your platforms can harm the complete data reputation of the business even introducing penalties from various source.
